On the Air with Hughesy
No doubt, you’ve heard of the famous comedian and radio host Dave Hughes, but did you know that Kadina
has its very own David Hughes on Gulf FM with The Hughesy Show?
I work Part time at Bedford. As it happens, I lost a few fingers on my right hand due to
an unfortunate tangle with a table saw in my shed back in January 2019.
“Middle fingers are over-rated”, laughing as I says that. “I often forget I have a perfectly good left hand because
I’ve adapted to the change in my right hand so well.” I must admit picking up small screws can be a little tricky at times,
but i still make it work. I credit my amazing recovery, which including my faith, family and great friends.
So don't let a disability stop you
My injury certainly hasn’t slowed me down in other rolls in my life. I have two radio shows on 89.3 Gulf FM
The Hughesy Show on Tuesday nights 60's, 70's and 80's
and Fantastic Fridays from 1- 4pm - an easy listening show
and always up for the challenge of song requests.
Going to markets with the Outside broadcast
with other team members
Also to the moonta Christmas Pageant, Field days and
Cavalcade of cars, Copper Coast Show
and many more
It's great hosting some shows allows me to play some of my favourite music and working with many
great people here at the station and I love connecting with the community. In 2022 I was recognised
at the local servo – not by my face, but by my voice! Good to know I have Listeners
I am busy doing many other things around in the Copper Coast., Actively I'm a Committee Member of the Moonta Bingo and I support
my brothers at the Copper Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group, More about that in a minute
When i do get down time, I keep myself busy in the veggie Garden and I'm into aquaponics
(Growing Vegies in water and having fish feed the plants)
Listen out for Me on Tuesday Nights and Friday arvos on Gulf FM.
I Support the Copper Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group
and the Prostate Cancer of Australia.
I believe we need to promote more about this disease.
Every 20 minutes another Australian man will be diagnosed with prostate cancer,
and tragically, every day, 10 Australian men will die from this disease
